Mission Earth is a true satire in all senses of the word, a hilarious exposé of the shortcomings of modern society as personified by politicians, gangsters, bankers, diplomats, attorneys, PRs and all manner of other familiar characters. The overall motif of the series is the planned infiltration and invasion of Earth by a race of technologically advanced aliens from the planet Voltar. The hero, Jettero Heller, sets in motion a plan to correct Earth's pollution, while a secret branch of the Voltarian government sends its own agent, a despicable, bungling villain, to sabotage Heller's mission. The fiercely paced, sharply satiric series of adventures and misadventures, plots and counter-plots, triumphs and disasters that follow - as the two protagonists come to grips with life in the 20th century – are not only entertaining but very enlightening.
